The Board discussed plans for the PASA-CFS Symposium (Political Leadership Among Filipino Americans - Theories and Practices) scheduled for October this year at the CSUEB.
|
|

FEBRUARY 24, 2008 ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

The Board discussed Strategic Plan 2008-2010 (Rica Llorente), the Lakbay Aral Project (Sophie Pasibe), the proposed Mural depicting the Filipino diaspora (Chuck Pe Benito), the NVM Gonzalez scholarship (April Tablante), the Harana project (Mercie de la Cruz).

JANUARY 20, 2008 ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
|
|
|
|
The Board discussed the HARANA project – a formal dinner is envisioned as a fundraiser and showcase for traditional Filipino serenade, food and dance. The initial plan is to stage the event in May, which is the Asian American month, at a Union City venue. Mercie de la Cruz was named executive director of a subcommittee that will plan the project, together with Gertrude Gregorio, Irene Gregorio, Jon Palacio and Chuck Pe Benito.

The East Bay Fiesta Islands festival will be held in 2009 also in Union City to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the City’s founding. Funding beneficiary of both events will be the CFS.
|
|
The PASA representatives reminded the group of the Philippine Cultural Night at CSUEASTBAY on May 23-24, 2008.
|

DECEMBER 15, 2007 GENERAL MEETING & CHRISTMAS DINNER PARTY
|
|
|
|
A general membership meeting and Christmas dinner party was held December 15, 2007 at the Union City residence of Gertrude and Carlen Gregorio.
|
|
|
|
The event is described in Rica Llorente’s minutes as being “highlighted by a sumptuous dinner, giveaway of boneless bangus and other Philippine products courtesy of Mercie de la Cruz, and an enjoyable gift game which made everyone roll with laughter.”
|
