The aim of the Community Relations Committee is to be a vehicle to promote closer and mutually beneficial ties between the University and the Filipino communities it serves.
The programs of the committee are designed to reach out to the communities with cultural, academic, and social activities that would promote the appreciation of the Filipino heritage, global experiences, and practical lessons learned. These activities include but are not limited to Filipino Festivals, Filipino language Saturday schools, and workshops.

East Bay Fiesta Islands, Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization that is planning the first ever Filipino festival in the East Bay for 2008.
The event will raise funds and the Center for Filipino Studies (CFS) is a co-beneficiary.
Attendees at the meeting were Carlen Gregorio (President), Manny Fernandez (Union City council member), Efren Padilla (CSUEB professor), S. Rica Llorente (CSUEB lecturer and University of Phoenix faculty member), Oscar Penaranda (EBFI vice president), Pat Gacoscos (Union City Sanitary District board member), and Rey Sison (Union City Planning Commission member).
